Surgical Fee for Strip

We are one of the very few centers in Hong Kong providing Megasession. Megasession is the transplanting of a large number of grafts, usually 1500-3000, in a single procedure. More grafts simply means better result.

Many patients settled for a low density transplant because of budget, and later wished for more. In order to make megassession more affordable, that patients can be satisfied after one session, we now introduce the new Megasession Package. Over 2,000 grafts should now be within the reach.

Surgical Fee for FUE

One Day Session

We do not like to extend the procedure over 2 days for the following reasons:
1. It is very tiring for the patient
2. Local anesthesia has to be injected again, causing more pain and discomfort
3. Too much injection on the same area will disrupt the blood and nutrient supply to hair follicles
4. The grafts transplanted on day 1 may be damaged on the second day
5. May affect the final result if grafts extracted on the second day is less than expected.

Number of Grafts

The number of grafts extracted within a day ranges from 800 to 1,400 grafts. The final number will be less when extraction is difficult, if you are late for the procedure, or taking too many breaks in between.
If you need over 1,200 - 1,400 grafts, we strongly recommend the Strip technique which has a more reliable outcome.

Hours of Extraction

Any extracted follicles should be re-implanted as soon as possible. We allow 5-7 hours on extraction, and another 3 hours to inserted into the recipient site. So the whole procedure may last 8-10 hours.

Quality of Grafts

In FUE it is very easy to transect some grafts during extraction. We promise only count and charge for grafts of good quality.
Many FUE Centers save cost by using machines or assistants to do extraction. Automatic drill may burn and kill the grafts. Poor result or even no growth has been reported. We insist that only doctor can perform FUE, and all grafts must be extracted manually.

Refund

If we cannot harvest the required number of grafts, we will refund the difference.
Example:
You pay for 1,000 grafts. if we only get 965, we charge just for 900 grafts and refund the cost for 100 grafts.

When Comparing Price

Behind the Cheapest Price

If price is the ONLY concern, then life is simple. Just look for the cheapest. In India some centers charge only 1 USD per graft or even less.

If hair transplant is to improve the look, we don't understand why people not care about the result. The best way to save money is not to do the transplant at all - having no transplant is better than having a bad transplant.

The Many Ways to Cut Cost:

•  Employ surgeons with no qualification or experience

•  Assistants doing most of the surgery

•  Cut down on manpower

•  Doing exclusively FUE with no other option

•  Compromise on quality of care and equipment

•  Do 2-3 cases a day

•  No follow-up and not expecting patients to return

•  Only do the first procedure, no repair

•  Never waste money on meetings and training

•  No Medical liability coverage

Remember to Ask The Graft Size

A graft is an intact piece of hair-follicle tissue to be implanted. Different doctors and centers transplant different sizes of graft depending on their resources and level of skill. Graft is classified according to size:

Punch Graft

About 4mm in diameter, a big piece of tissue creating the artificial doll-hair appearance. A matter of the past and don't ask for it.

Mini Graft

About 2-3mm in diameter, containing 2 or 3 follicular units. It is faster and easier and does not require microscopes. The result is acceptable but not natural.

Follicular Unit Graft

About 1mm in diameter, the smallest nature-occurring unit. It gives the most natural result but demands more work, skill, and equipment.

Remember to Ask the Packing Density

Many people compare "price per number of grafts", but have no idea how the grafts are planted. Putting 2,000 grafts into 50 sq.cm area (density of 40) demands more skill and time then into a a larger 100 sq.cm (density of 20). A high density packing obviously attracts a higher fee.

Remember to Ask the Pricing Policies

The many different pricing systems on the market renders it difficult to compare price over the phone. In fact quotation before any surgical plan is meaningless. Cost is simply determined by density and area, and cannot be fixed without knowing both.

Instead of comparing the "price per graft", you should compare the "price per job". The followings must be clarified:

•  Any charge for extra graft

•  Any charge for follow-up

Remember to Ask the Unit for Cost Calculating

Most centers charge by graft, some charge by hair. Read about the differences between graft & hair. We believe it is unfair to charge "by hair".

•  It create the illusion of large number. Transplanting 3,000 hairs sounds great but that's about only 1,500 grafts.

•   It confuses everyones.

•  Why charge triple when preparing and planting a 3-hair FU is no difference from a 1-hair FU?

•  Why penalize patients with more 3-hair and 4-hair FUs?
