Hairline Restore - Our Technical Approach for the Best Result

Hair transplant is more than just transferring hair from one part of the head to another. Put it this way, not every man with a full head of hair is attractive. Artistic planning is important. For the best result we pay attention to every details as follows as oulined below :
Graft Survival
Obviously you need to have hair to look good.
Hairline Design that Stands the Test of Time
Low hairline may look good at the age of 24, but not 42 when it appears as a great wall of hair in front of the empty crown. Some men were even transplanted with a female hairline. All are just unnatural.
Adequate Density
Density is simply the king. Anything less than 30 FUs/sq.cm does not provide good coverage no matter what technique is used. Increase the density will give better result, 50 FU/sq.cm is better than 40 FU/sq.cm. There is always a compromise amongst desired density, areas of coverage, available donor hair, and financial budget.
Size of the Graft
Needless to say the latest Ultra-Refined Follicular Transplant ( UR-FUT ) would give the best result.
Sensible Surgical Plan
With a limited donor supply, where to transplant is crucial. We always make sure you look good after the first one. Our philosophy is that further session is an option, not a necessity.
Insertion - Angle, Direction, Orientation
Making incisions in the recipient site is in fact the most important step in hair transplant. How the hole is made will determine how the hair will grow.
Realistic Expectation
The principle of hair transplant is to create an illusion of hair, not actually replacing hair. There is about 50,000 FUs over the entire scalp. A Norwood Class V patient would have lost one-third or 17,000 FUs. Transplanting 2,000 to 3,000 grafts can only improve his look to a Class III. Expecting back to be a Class I is not natural. The limitations of hair transplant must be accepted

The 3 Principles in Incision
| |
1. Follow the natural pattern of existing hair
We flow the new hair to follow and blend with the old to allow for easy styling.
2. Shingling effects
Baldness is the seeing of light reflected from scalp. We achieve good coverage with a lesser density by shingling, the overlapping of hairs in layers to block the light reflection.
3. Reduce tissue trauma
Trying to make too many big holes in a defined area will damage the scalp and jeopardize the blood vessels. We overcome this by using the finest blades. |
The 4 Types of Incision
Many different ways of making incision have been described. There are 4 common patterns :
Type 1 - Anterio-posterior Sagittal
|
 Type II - Radial Sagittal
|
Type III - Anterio-posterior Coronal |
Type IV - Radial Coronal |
The 5th Type - "Slanticle"
We have used all of the above methods but none achieve our expected result. With the inspiration of Dr Richard Rogers (UK), we have adopted his personal technique called "Slantical", designed to closely match the natural pattern of each individual. The result is promising.
